When a man down and a nuke in the wild becomes available to the highest bidder, Cooper finds herself thrown into the dangerous world of espionage she always wanted to be a part of. And, as it turns out, she's way more capable than she looks.

However, her license to kill is revoked when she's murdered by well-dressed Bulgarian femme fatale Rayna Boyanov (played by Rose Byrne). This move adds an element of danger and unpredictability to the story, making it even more thrilling for the audience.

Other spy spoofs like Austin Powers, The Naked Gun, and Kingsman: The Secret Service have focused on skewering the Bond/Jason Bourne/Jack Bauer archetype. But Spy takes a different approach by focusing on the espionage support system back in the home office.

IA analyst Susan Cooper (played by Melissa McCarthy) regularly saves the suave but slightly dim Bradley Fine (played by Jude Law) from being knifed, shot, and/or blown up by missiles from afar. This dynamic between Cooper and Fine adds a layer of humor to the story, making it even more enjoyable for the audience.

The writer/director and the A-list actress have worked together on other projects like Bridesmaids and The Heat, but Spy finds them both at their foul-mouthed best. Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy make a super team, even when sending up James Bond and his secret-agent ilk.
